WakoWa Wellness was founded
in 2004 by Wako Takayama, MA,
certified acupressure practitioner, as a manifestation of her commitment to
support healthy and sustainable living in her community.
"When
I work with
a client, I do not cure or fix. I activate the
body's natural healing powers by stimulating
acupressure points through touch and calling attention through inquiry
to the areas in the body, emotions and mind where things are stuck.
It is my privilege to work with my clients
to help relieve their
discomfort and pain, explore paths to greater health, and increase
peace and joy in their lives. |
Wako
trained at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley where she completed a
Professional Specialization Program in Traditional Asian
Therapies. She brings a rich background of service, education, business
experience and life passions to her
wellness work. She has degrees in Social Anthropology from Harvard and
Stanford Universities, and has worked for
over 18 years developing and marketing technology and consumer products
in the US and Asia.
Wako
practices Anusara yoga, plays latin-jazz violin, and loves to
travel and speak Spanish. She's a member of the Sustainable Business
Alliance and serves on the Advisory Board of Streetside Stories.
Wako was the resident acupressure-practitioner at Jazz Camp West 2006.

"The
day I came to see you, I had a horrible headache and you showed me
some reflexology techniques I could do on myself. I used what I learned
for the rest of the week." -- Kate, jazz
